About UsWe are Heidi Gustafsson-Rinta and Tuomas Rinta, who currently reside in Vantaa, Finland with our two Peruvian hairless dogs. In addition to the dogs, we have two leopard geckos, Viivi and Veikka. We both study information technology, but refuse to classify ourselves as nerds.
When we moved to Vantaa, we realized that now we could get the second dog, and we heard that there was a puppy available in a litter born in Sipoo (kennel Sarantais). We went to see the puppies and one of them was immediately the one we wanted, and luckily that was the puppy that was available, and that's how Minttu entered our family. At this time, the thought of breeding started to surface. We started to dig up more and more information on this breed, contacting domestic and foreign breeders. We have managed to create some deeper contacts outside Finland which resulted in Azul coming to Finland in 2005 from Slovenia, followed by Didi in 2006 who came from Peru. These both dogs we own with Kaarina Naaralainen (kennel Bay's Bushyfur). After this, Didi has moved to Kaarina's sole ownership, as we realized that we had no plans for her even though she is a lovely dog.
Our goal in breeding is to breed healthy, good-natured peruavian hairless dogs on small scale. Our dogs are part of our everyday life, and we want to provide activities and hobbies for each of our dogs. For this reason, we want to keep the number of dogs in our house relatively small. We hope that the future owners of puppies bred by us will have an interest towards the special traits of this breed. Peruvian hairless dogs are not for everybody, and you really can't advertise this breed, everyone must discover and fall in love with this breed themselves. If you have any questions or want some extra information, please do get in touch. We're happy to answer any questions pertaining to this breed, to the best of our ability. We got our first peruvian hairless dog just before christmas 2002, after waiting for over an year. We are allergic (mostly to pollen), so we were afraid that we could never get a dog, fearing an allergic reaction. Then we stumbled across information about hairless dogs and this unique breed. We found contact information for Taru's breeder (kennel Wanhan Wuoren) and got to see hairless dogs live. It was love at first sight! We were impressed by the appearance and the character of the dogs, especially a dog imported from Peru, Flipper. We decided then that we want a progeny of Flipper. This all resulted in Taru coming to us two days before christmas, 2002.
We actively went to dog shows with Taru, inside and outside Finland, until she got her beauty champion -titles. When Taru came in to our lives, we lived in central Helsinki in a small apartement. Pretty soon we started talking about another dog, but decided to wait until we would be living in a bigger apartment.
In 2007, a small mexican hairless dog named Halla joined the pack. She's small and full of energy so she fits in the group real well. Even though lot smaller than Taru and Minttu, she's running in the forests' with them just as well.
